Cafax
Cafax was founded in the early 1960s as an innovative concept whereby the company loaned out electric coffee grinders and sold coffee beans to Danish households. Cafax reaped great success with its concept. When newer methods of packing coffee became the norm the demand for coffee grinders declined. Cafax then reinvented its business and established the concept that is the cornerstone of today's success.
Today Cafax services companies, public institutions, hotels and restaurants with coffee making systems and related services.
Cafax is the leading supplier of coffee making facilities and has developed over 80 different systems and an extensive quality and service programme.
Varpelev Tomater Aps
For more than three decades now, since 1969 when Mogens Bjerre founded Varpelev Tomater, tomatoes have been harvested on the farm in the town of Varpelev. Today the yearly production is 4000 tons of tomatoes. The six different kinds of tomatoes are produced from a green house space of currently 96.200 square metres (more than 42 acres).
Varpelev Tomater uses only natural pest control and employs the pests' natural enemies. Every year they purchases 5 million predatory mites and have guaranteed 100% organic produced tomatoes since 2000. In line with the ecological awareness, Varpelev Tomater produces its own energy which supplies 85% of the company's energy. The surplus energy is delivered to the Danish electricity supply.
From the beginning it's been a policy to hire local workers. Today this is still an important objective and Varpelev Tomater currently employs 55 workers all year round.
The location in Varpelev in Stevns municipality is ideal for Varpelev Tomater for two reasons. Firstly the soil is very fertile and secondly the infrastructure in the area ensures the problem-free delivery of the tomatoes.
