Major tourist attractions

Copenhagen is one of Europe’s oldest capitals and its historic architecture, royal touch and romantic atmosphere are probably some of the biggest tourist attractions. Among the traditional attractions are the world famous amusement park the Tivoli Gardens founded back in 1843, the many royal castles, and the famous sculpture the Little Mermaid beautifully located just off the waterfront in the harbour.

Unbeaten quality of life

However, Copenhagen is not only for history buffs. The city possesses a highly cosmopolitan atmosphere and a rich cultural life. The modern appeal of Copenhagen is evidenced by the international lifestyle magazine Wallpaper, which awarded Copenhagen a place among the ten coolest cities in the world in 2004. Wallpaper Magazine emphasises Copenhagen’s architecture and design, as well as the atmosphere and lifestyle, bringing Copenhagen in a league with cities like London, Paris, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai.

And in 2005, Financial Times put Copenhagen on the absolute top among cities offering their inhabitants and guests the best quality of life in the world.

More to see and do

Those interested in museums will not be disappointed. From the Statens Museum for Kunst (the National State Gallery) and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, to the sculptural museum the Glyptotek and the Danish Centre for Architecture, and many other museums, there should be something for everyone.

You will find more inspiration for your visit at the website of Copenhagen's official tourist promotion agency, Wonderful Copenhagen.
